FAC’s Healthy Schools programme annually serves nearly 2,500 children aged 0 -12 years, from schools of the peri-urban areas of the city of Ambato. These schools, even though they are within one of the most important trade centres of the country, face many problems in infrastructure, basic services, preventable diseases, malnutrition and violence.
We provide the children of these schools with:
- Medical, dental and psychological diagnosis
- Therapeutic counseling groups
- Recreational activities such as Andean dance group and art workshops at the Youth Club
In addition, with parents and teachers we perform:
- Health training
- Talks on violence and other problems faced by children of this area
